Welcome back

May I take this opportunity to wish you all a very Happy and Healthy New Year.

As we head into a busy term, I would firstly like to wish our S4, S5 and S6 pupils the best of luck in their imminent prelim examinations. A reminder to parents that study leave will begin at 1:10pm on Friday the 11th January and run until 1:10pm on Friday the 1st of February. Exams will commence on Monday the 14th of January, with pupils receiving their individualised pupil timetables this week.

With Mr Barnett moving on, the school have established a new school Twitter account. Please follow us on @TeamElginAcad for school news and updates. Our Facebook page details will remain the same.

As we are now firmly in winter, can I remind parents that in the event of adverse weather, they should contact the Moray Schools Information Line on 0870 054 9999 and enter the PIN 031010 for Elgin Academy details.

Assemblies have taken place for all year groups this week and we wish all our pupils well as we look forward to a fantastic term at Elgin Academy.

Little Shop of Horrors

Last week saw two very high quality performances of ‘Little Shop of Horrors’. Thank you to all of the cast and to the vast team of students and staff who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure a successful show. The school vision of ‘Together Everyone Achieves More’ was exemplified by this whole experience. A particular thank you goes to drama teacher Mrs Melissa MacDonald who oversaw the entire production and worked tirelessy to guide and encourage everyone involved. More pics on Facebook.

Robertson Design Project

The final of our S3 programme to design a ‘Climbers’ Retreat’ was held on Wednesday 5 December. This programme is very closely supported by Robertson and is run through our Design & Technology department. Groups of S3 pupils work together in teams, competing to design an ideal ‘Climbers’ Retreat’. The competition was won by the “Unique Constructions” group, consisting of Lia Stewart (Project Manager), Iona Smith, Medi Saracevic and Cooper Duncan. Second place went to the “Sandhill” group, consisting of Geordan Allan (Project Manager), Jonathan Affleck, Joshua Austin, Sam Badenoch and Alexander Ward. Third place went to the “CNHR Builds” group consisting of Caitlyn Jones (Project Manager), Robyn Lean, Natalie Sydenham and Hannah Reid. Well done to everyone involved.
