Assessment and Reporting
Assessment is used to ensure that you and your teachers know what you are good at doing and where you have difficulty. Information on how you performed at primary school will be passed on to all your teachers at the Academy so that we can be sure you get the help you need before passing on to the next stage, or to more difficult work, when you are ready.
Teachers are assessing how you are getting on all the time and use written tests, class work and oral work to check if you are learning the various skills involved in each course and subject. It is more important to know what you can do than how you compare with others.
For all subjects there are two reports issued during S1 and S2: in May of First year, and in February of Second Year. Your report has a separate sheet for each subject and this will show how well you are doing. Your Guidance teacher will also send home a report each year.
We cannot put all the information in your report form but, if your parents want more details about how you are doing, they should get in touch with the school and these details will be supplied. Your Guidance teacher will speak to them or arrange to meet them.
Opportunities will be given for your parents to come along to the school to find out about the kind of activities which you do in your different courses in S1. This will take place on an evening in January. You may come along with your parents if you wish.
